In addition to the world-class universities that call Boston home, there are a number of other places to discover in the city. Many of these are along the Charles River, which cuts the city in half. Harvard, MIT, and Boston University are all near the shores of the river and there are a number of fun days out to be had along the waterfront. The streets of the city also hold their own appeal, as the city's youthful population packs the streets, museums, and artistic realms of the city as they do in any European city. While you spend some time relaxing in Boston Common or the Boston Public Garden, you will feel the history of the city as you stroll along the Freedom Trail, which connects some of the city's historical monuments.
