Introducing Simferopol


Simferopol is the Crimean center of science, culture and industry and is located on the banks of the Salhyr River at the foot of the Chathyr-Dag massif. Simferopol was an important trade center in the 19th century. It was the capital of the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic from 1921 to1945, and has been the capital of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea since 1991.

The city center is 25 km from Simferopol Airport and you can get there using the buses, trolleybuses and Aeroekspres passenger shuttles that depart every 10 minutes from the airport. You can also get to the city center on the number 49, 98 and 115 city buses, which cost 25 cents, or take the number 9 trolleybus for a cost of 20 cents. The journey takes about 25 minutes.
