Message from the Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat

Dear Esteemed Stakeholders,

As the airline flying to the most countries in the world, we build bridges between countries, continents and cultures in line with our mission. We create value for all those we touch and everywhere that we fly in accordance with our sustainability strategy. This strategy is structured around four focal points: people, the planet, development, and governance functions. We grow as we create value, and we view sustainability as a journey, one that must be internalized at all levels of the Company. In this journey, we take the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations as our guide.

We focus and continue to develop our sustainability strategy on issues to which our shareholders attach importance, and also on material issues which might affect our activities. When identifying our material issues, we consider legal regulations, global trends, the opinions and concerns of our stakeholders, broad-framed social expectations, and our impacts on the supply chain, together with the mission and strategy of our Incorporation.

Addressing climate change is among our material issues and we conduct multi-faceted studies in this context. Climate change is the world’s most crucial environmental problem. As we expand our fleet, which is one of the youngest fleets in Europe, we prioritize aircraft with high fuel efficiency. Along with our short-, medium- and long-term emissions reductions targets, we are committed to achieving the targets set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), of which we are a member.

Our human resources, who come from different countries and cultures, are at the core of our success and achievements. As Turkish Airlines, with our comprehensive scope of activity and multicultural structure, we offer our employees suitable working conditions, and we act in accordance with the national legislation regarding the rights of association and collective bargaining. We support the career development of our employees, contributing to their individual and professional development through trainings and other methods. By consistently adhering to equal opportunity principles, we implement policies to ensure diversity and inclusion.

With our deep-rooted corporate culture, we provide support to various social responsibility projects each year and we maintain movement towards sustainable growth by taking firm and strong steps forward: Our objective is to enhance the quality of life of the society in which we live, and to fulfill our responsibilities towards our employees, local communities and other stakeholders.

We publicly disclose our performance in the fields of environment, social, economic and corporate governance to all our stakeholders through our sustainability reports. Our flexible and dynamic structure is paired with an understanding based on the principles of honesty, transparency and accountability. We will continue our studies in the upcoming periods in order to offer a better future to the next generations.
