Have you received your baggage?

Baggage issues tracking form

We strive to ensure that your baggage arrives safely and on time at your destination. However, despite our diligent efforts, baggage losses may occur due to a variety of reasons. If your baggage has been lost, you can reach out to the Lost and Found offices of Turkish Airlines or the ground handling company at your arrival airport. When you submit your query at the airport or online, you will receive a reference number (PIR/Baggage Incident Report number, e.g. ISTTK12345) for your lost baggage. The application procedures to follow in the event of lost baggage are listed below.

Prolonged baggage inspection procedure

Your baggage tracked by our offices deploying International Baggage Search Systems along your flight route for the initial five days following your arrival. Lost baggage is typically located within 24 hours and returned to passengers at the earliest opportunity, though there may be rare instances where the delivery time is extended for operational reasons. A detailed list of the items inside the baggage and their cost is requested within five days to conduct a more thorough investigation of the unidentified lost baggage. If this request is not received, a new notification may be generated via the baggage disruption notification and tracking system. Documents may be attached to the new notification, or a message can be composed. If composing a message, it is important to include specifics regarding the appearance (such as color, brand, size, etc.) and the contents of the baggage to ensure quicker detection and delivery. Our relevant units will conduct a thorough and intensive investigation into lost baggage for a period of 21 days, based on the information and documents provided

Terms and conditions regarding lost baggage

  • To file a claim for lost baggage, you must provide the baggage tag that was issued to you. Consequently, it is important to ensure that the name tag provided at check-in is fully completed and securely affixed to your luggage.
  • It is important to retain your baggage tag and boarding pass until you have received your baggage, in case you require additional processing.
  • Thorough investigations are conducted to pinpoint baggage that seems untagged in our system due to the lack of a baggage tag; however, no evaluation can be made regarding any potential financial loss.
  • Please submit and maintain a report to facilitate the proper investigation of your baggage or to continue the process in the event that it cannot be located, thus ensuring that any damages can be compensated.
  • When you pass your baggage to the counter staff during the check-in process, make sure that you receive a copy of your baggage tag.
  • If passengers depart the airport without retrieving their baggage, they will be accountable for any financial losses incurred.
  • If the airline you traveled with on your last flight is not Turkish Airlines, you must submit your application to that airline. If you have flown with any airline that is part of Star Alliance, you are eligible to apply to all member airlines.
  • If your baggage was in lost baggage status for an extended period and was delivered to you after a delay, or if it has damaged or missing contents, you can submit a written application to Turkish Airlines within seven days of receiving the baggage, using your previously created report number.
