USA FREE BAGGAGE RULES

The new baggage piece concept will apply to tickets issued as of May 01, 2017, and to all international flights as of July 01, 2017. Under the new concept, the free baggage allowance on USA flights will vary depending on the route. Business Class baggage allowance on flights arriving in/departing from the USA will be 2x32 kg. Economy Class baggage allowance will either be 2x23 kg or 1x23 kg, depending on the route.

Free baggage

Free baggage allowance in Business Class is 2x32 kg. The total length, width and height of each piece must be no greater than 158 cm. 

In Economy Class, each piece of baggage may be no heavier than 23 kg*. In Business Class, each piece of baggage may be no heavier than 32 kg**

*On journeys starting in Brazil or Argentina and arriving in Türkiye or destinations outside of Türkiye, each piece may be no heavier than 32 kg in both Economy Class and Business Class. 

** For infant passengers under the age of 2 traveling on all international flights in either Economy Class or Business Class, the free baggage allowance is 1x23 kg. In addition to this, 1 fully collapsible stroller or pushchair will also be accepted. The size limit for this is 115 cm. 

For USA flights, on tickets issued as of May 01, 2017 and on journeys starting from July 01, 2017, the 2x23 kg baggage allowance in Economy Class will be either 1x23 kg or 2x23 kg, depending on the flight route. To see your baggage allowance for your destination, please check the information printed on your ticket. 

On journeys which include another airline, the free baggage allowance rules of the most significant carrier (MSC) will apply. The MSC is the airline which covers the most significant and/or the longest leg of the journey. 

If the MSC on your journey is Turkish Airlines, Turkish Airlines' free baggage allowance will apply. If the MSC is another airline, that airline's free baggage allowance will apply.*

Your free baggage allowance is printed on your ticket. 

* On flights arriving in/departing from the USA with more than one carrier (interline), US DoT (US Department of Transportation) Order 2009-9-20 will apply. 

* On flights arriving in/departing from Canada with more than one carrier (interline), CTA (Canada Transportation Agency) Decision No. 144-4-2014 will apply.

Elite Card and Elite Plus Card member passengers may carry 1 additional piece no longer than 110 cm in length. 

As an Elite Card member, you will also receive the above additional baggage allowance when traveling with other Star Alliance airlines. 

The Elite Card is equivalent to the Star Alliance Gold level on other Star Alliance airlines.
